You can expect the right leadership – Air Vice Marshal Amosu The newly appointed Chief of the Air Staff, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu has assured the officers and men of the NAF to expect the right leadership that the Service deserved under his administration. Speaking during the handing and taking over ceremony at the Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force recently, the CAS informed the gathering that it was absolutely necessary for the NAF to focus on Joint Warfare Capability, innovative ideas and pursuit of credible alliances According to the CAS, “On my part you can expect the right leadership and an unrelenting commitment to securing for the Service the resources needed to enable us carry out our assigned tasks successfully. With all of us individually and collectively doing our parts, there is no doubt that we can meet and surpass most challenges as they emerge and fulfil our constitutional roles as the custodians and executors of Air Power on behalf of our Great Nation.” Air Vice Marshal Amosu stated that the approach to take the NAF to a new level of effectiveness ought to be revolutionary, considering the limited resources, deteriorating environment and the disturbing number of unserviceable aircraft in the NAF. He explained that there was a need for clear and creative thinking to understand how to use the capabilities of the NAF to balance the national strategic ambitions against available resources noting that the objective of his administration was to radically transform the NAF into a fighting force ready for the emerging challenges of the Twenty First Century. Speaking further, Air Vice Marshal Amosu revealed that most of the national security challenges were domestic to most nations in the form of terrorism and insurgency and Nigeria was not exempted from these trends. The CAS therefore solicited for the cooperation of all Nigerians to partner with the security agencies to rid the nation of the scourge of terrorism and insurgency in order to bequeath the desired peace and stability to the nation. “It is my position that to achieve the objective of reaching an expeditious and favourable resolution of the North East insurgency, we must combine Counter-Terrorism efforts with Anti-Terrorism as well as political and social intervention,” he said. The CAS extolled the visionary and dedicated leadership of his predecessor, Air Chief Marshal AS Badeh which he said has set the NAF well on her way to becoming a self-reliant and highly professional fighting force fully equipped to meet the challenges of the Twenty First Century, reiterating that, “Of particular note was his emphasis on result-oriented Research and Development, giving rise to technological innovations which have continued to enhance the operational effectiveness of our combat platforms.” On his part, the immediate past CAS and now the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal AS Badeh congratulated the new CAS acknowledging that he handed over the leadership of NAF to a capable leader and enjoined all personnel to extend the same level of cooperation and loyalty to him.
