You cant single out the Koran as being uniquely violent. The Old - TopicsExpress

You cant single out the Koran as being uniquely violent. The Old Testament is full of stories about bloody retribution. Remember the Ten Plagues of Egypt? Ten acts of terror, ranging from chemical (poisoned water supply) to biological (diseased livestock and boils that wouldnt heal) to straight-up murder (all first-born sons, regardless of guilt), visited upon a regime on behalf of an oppressed people. Its a (relatively) harmless allegory when its believers are in power, but if their backs were against the wall, it could condone horrific acts. The problem isnt that the Koran is violent; its that ancient religious texts are violent, and desperate people will use them to justify their actions.
