You ever have one of those moments when you are disciplining or arguing with or frustrated with your children and you realize they are doing EXACTLY the same things you did as a kid and you turned out all right?? Not saying it is ok to say do what you want because it will all be good man but saying that sometimes I forget that I was once a child. Jackie wants an iPhone badly. We are trying to find her one on ebay that does not suck without spending a weeks salary. She was telling me how many of the kids have them in her school (she is going into 8th grade). I started the if kids were jumping off a bridge .. when she said wasnt there anything you wanted at my age that all the other kids had?? And I realized yes there was many things that I wanted that others had. We didnt have cable and EVERYONE was watching mTV or HBO and I had no idea what that was. It seemed like everyone had gone to Disney and we didnt until I was in hs. We wore Sweet Orrs like they were going out of style, and Sassoon jeans and Jordache jeans were awesome. How about LA Gear high tops?? Or really cool roller skates? Or perfectly coiffed Farrah hair? Never quite achieved it. So today I am going to start seeing the world through my childrens eyes and not my distorted old lady version.
