You guys this video is top notch, and heres the article that goes with it: https://blog.lonewolfmag/the-myth-of-perfection/ In portraiture my photoshop rule is this: I only edit out things that are either non essential to a persons character or couldve been fixed in camera. Blemishes and cold sores get taken out, for example, because no one considers acne part of their personal identity. Wrinkles, moles and freckles, on the other hand, are part of a persons identity, so they stay. Ill also take out a weird bra bulge or muffin-top if its something that couldve easily been fixed at the shoot. If it wouldve disappeared the second the person sat up a little straighter then thats my own fault for not directing them to sit up straighter. But for overall body slimming? Definitely not. I admit though its pretty tough if you are trying to break into the high fashion industry - they want ridiculously perfect images, plain and simple. So what do you guys think? Has the fashion gone too far? If you want to shoot high fashion do you just suck it up and send in the plastic photos, or do we have some responsibility to do something about it? What about for our non-fashion clients; what are your own personal photoshop rules when it comes to photographing people?
