You have probably heard the expression: “We are in the world, but not of the world.” Can you imagine what would happen if the light was taken away from the world – utter darkness would become the nature of our existence and as the prophet Isaiah stated: “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you.” 60:2 Even as Matthew stated in the Sermon on the Mount, quoting Jesus: “You are the salt of the earth.. you are the light of the world.” I can only shudder when I think of what mankind is capable of if we were to take many Christians out of the political realm as well when I see what the darkness in that sphere is capable of. Beloved, we need to pray for those people in our Parliaments, Congresses, Senates, and Executive branches of government who are exercising their ability to be light in darkness and permeating salt in that environment. We also need to support them with encouraging material and promote the fact that they are a prophetical voice oftentimes when it seems like the darkness is prevailing in the political domain. I want to also state what I have often proclaimed on my radio program when it comes to the people who represent us in whatever capacity: “You gave them your vote – now give them your voice.” Too often we just stay quiet when we should be speaking up about either the darkness or the light. That is our right as people who believe in democratic institutions. Let’s get on with it.
