You have to start understanding the value and importance of “context” instead of parts of a story. Many of you in the fitness and diet industries are led to believe there are “bad” hormones in the body like cortisol for instance (and insulin to mention another). Bullocks! Although cortisol gets a bad rap in fitness, health, and weight-loss industries – this once again just proves how “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” – key word here “little.” You’ve been led to believe that cortisol is a “bad stress hormone” that stalls or prevents weight-loss, or the development of muscle. But this isn’t the whole story by any means and the statement itself is ludricous. If your body produces a hormone it does so with some reason and purpose. Cortisol is in fact essential for proper energy metabolism and critical for survival. It’s the “context” of knowing about these things that matters. Insulin and cortisol have very important roles to play in optimum health and metabolism – demonizing them simply makes no sense at all – and doing so illustrates not knowledge, but ignorance
