You know, I have to say... Regardless of race or whatever, when a law enforcement officer stops you and asks for ID, you should just give it to them. Period. I am TOTALLY sympathetic to the fact that I probably cant begin to comprehend how totally infuriating it must be to be repeatedly profiled, and Im white and clean cut, so I havent experienced it first hand. But how mad it makes you doesnt mean much to a cop in the moment...in fact, I think the madder you appear, the worse it is. My limited experience is that the less than brilliant intellectual capacity of most police officers combined with the risky and stressful nature of their job makes them particularly sensitive to uptight suspects. I apologize for every white asshole who has mistreated a member of the minority community. I see the definition of appropriate behavior in those situations and how unfair it is as separate issues. It sucks that its so much harder for some to endure than others. Its a very unfair situation in this country, for sure.
