You know reading a post by a paramedic tonight reminded me of a patient I cared for the other day. He was a very nice elderly gentleman I had introduced myself and while I put in his IV and drew blood we chatted and he shared with me how he had been in the service and in the Battle of the Bulge and had gotten a head injury and how he was flown to various foreign countries during his recovery. When he was done among a few things I truthfully thanked him for his service to our country. He held my hand and with tears in his eyes said "thank you, so you know in my entire life you are only the THIRD person to say this to me". I felt humbled that this poor man who fought in wars and was injured to the point of being on disability since 1940 or so has only heard this 3 times. Thank you thank you to all service men and women. You all are amazing and under appreciated.
