We are actually in-between two arms known as the Orion-Cygnus arm, and are approx. 25,000 light years away from the center of the galaxy. Were also 25,000 LY away from the edge of the galaxy, which puts us right in the middle. Also, the Earth completes an orbit of the sun every 365 days. However around the galactic center, it takes Earth a whopping 250 million years to do the same! The last time that happened, dinosaurs roamed the landscape!
