You may know that the Master of Arts in Higher Education program - TopicsExpress

You may know that the Master of Arts in Higher Education program at Geneva offers a Winter Institute program every year. This year the Winter Institute is January 6 (Monday afternoon) through January 10 (Friday, done at noon). We hold it at beautiful Oglebay Park outside of Wheeling, West Virginia in the interest of pursuing an engaging living-learning environment; it’s a great spot that we head back to each year. This year we are offering the following courses: The Vocation of Teacher, taught by Dr. Don Opitz Legal Issues in Higher Education, taught by Dr. Jamie Swank Contemporary Trends in Higher Education, taught by Drs. Brad Frey, Dave Guthrie, and Keith Martel Students complete one of these courses over the course of 10 weeks or so during the ensuing spring semester. Over the years, many students have told us that they like the Winter Institute educational experience the most. So, we thought it might be a cool idea to invite students who may be interested in pursuing a master’s degree in higher education to come to our Winter Institute. Such folks would attend one of the courses for the week, and then would decide if they actually want to take the course for credit. If so, we would charge them $1000 (about one-half of the regular course cost) for this course, whether they eventually apply, are accepted, and come to our program or not. We would ask them to pay $165 for the costs associated with the stay at Oglebay Park for the week (which includes lodging and plenty of meals). Would you be willing to recommend a student or a colleague for this? If so, I would ask that you do two things. First, would you be willing to talk to the student or colleague about it to see if he or she may be interested. And, second, would you be willing to send us along your recommendation(s) and we will contact them directly with the information and next steps. We’d have to have any info by Thanksgiving at the latest simply so we can have enough lead time to make the necessary housing/food arrangements. Thanks very much for your partnership in these efforts. I hope that the Lord is at work in you and in your midst as the Fall semester continues to unfold! Shalom! Dave
