You persecute us. You burn us. You hack us to pieces. You rape us. You hoist us your trishul and throw us into the fires of your communalism. You lock us in your stubborn jails on false charges indefinitely and, one fine day, chuck us out without any remorse. You shove your bigotic food into our fasting throats. All because of our identity. And still, mounted on the high horse of your Savarna capital, shamelessly indict us for being conscious of our identity. For relating to a person of the same identity. You ask us, What about ISIS? What about Boko Haram? Would ask these questions to a non-muslim? What makes you assume that muslims somehow align with the terrorists just because they belong to our religion? Why should a muslim constantly demonstrate his secular credentials? Is there any one more violently conscious of his identity than a savarna hindu? The consciousness of identity,of the oppressed, leads to empathy and solidarity with all the victims of hegemony whereas yours just leads to more oppression, and more bigotry. More gujarats. More Muzaffarnagars. Next time, before you question our secularism, ask yourself this: Am i accusing him because of his muslim beard? Who is being identity conscious now?
