You probably must have heard out every second Indian citizen - TopicsExpress

You probably must have heard out every second Indian citizen crying out, “This government is useless. It’s not doing its work to the expectations.” Well, I can’t judge if they are wrong or not, but one thing that I’m pretty sure of is that most of them are in no way, in any position to curse the government. Before elaborating, let me clear it out I’m am not a government’s messenger, I’m just an ordinary citizen who used to say the same in the past until I realized the bare fact myself. I even think that yes, we can, and of course, should blame the government, because India is a democracy, but that is not fair until we ourselves behave as true citizens. The reason I say this is because according to the analysis, the condition in which India lies today is primarily due to the fact that most of the Indians do not follow basic rules laid out by the government. As a common instance, let’s take into account the recent law that proclaimed ‘Smoking in public as a crime’. Yeah, that might have been surprising for some of us, but really, it’s a law. Now, honestly, how many of us sincerely follow that law? Even worse, we behave foolishly trying to imitate famous personalities while smoking. That attitude merely mocks the statutory warning put forth by the government. Taking another example, I just wanna ask, what would an average Indian do, when he receives a call while he is driving. Yeah right, he’ll go on and answer that call, irrespective of the fact that he’s driving and it’s illegal. Does that approve him to blame the government out in the wild? Next on the list is the disinterest shown by some of us towards the issue of the UID. Come on people, that was for our own good, making us a registered citizen of India, worthy of all basic amenities. All arrangements were made to ensure no one is left behind and still, what some of us did was to lie down in the home watching daily soaps. The Nirbhaya Case is an exclusive example of this fact. People were annoyed about why the Delhi police didn’t offer instant assistant. Yes, it’s accepted that they were at fault. But what about the ones who were standing right there watching the whole incident happen like robots? Where did their humanity disappear at that point of time? Well, what I meant to convey from this article was only a message, that we can’t always put the government at fault when we ourselves are the culprits. Democracy doesn’t work that way. Since we are also a part of it, we must look at ourselves too before crying out about others. The government is definitely not doing its duty to the brim, but can’t we use our common sense to bring out the good in the country? I am sure that Indians have the highest of the minds, and that’s what hurts me the most. Seriously, if we all start behaving in the right sense, the day when India would move from the lost of ‘Developing’ to ‘Developed’ would not be far away!
