You respond to a person under a car call on a Engine Company ... you dont have any lifting tools.... or do you? Using a ground ladder and a section of high vol hose or the spare tire you can make a large leaver to be able to lift the car. Now this method is not ideal.... but could absolutely save a life. It is not a new technique.... in fact the opposite is true, it use to be a technique that was even talked about in fire service manuals of years gone by. It is not better then using proper lifting tools and equipment but could be easily done if the proper tools and equipment are not readily available.
