You thought we are done? No, were never done! Even if its the summer holiday, we strive to do our best for our members. Lets cut to the chase shall we?. Who wants a free trip to Brussels to visit the European Parliament? Yes, you heard that right. After plenty communication from us to MEPs, we have managed to bag ourself a sponsorship to visit the European parliament. A 3 day trip from 18th to 20th August 2014. We get a tour round the parliament and other fun activities in Brussels to do whilst we are at it. Its like the London trip but this time well make sure all the planning is done to the highest standard. Minimum numbers for this sponsorship is: 10, Maximum numbers is 15/20 for allocation. We already have 6 definite (from yesterdays night out) So we are limited on spaces... Still interested? Carry on reading! To sum it up. The sponsorship will be made of subsides. A travel subsidy, flat rate meal subsidy BOTH WHICH ARE PAID ON THE DAY OF THE VISIT. The travel subsidy will be made of the most direct journey and will be calculated after the application is submitted. The meal subsidy will be 35EUROS each. Roughly the travel subsidy will be around 240EUROS but this is JUST AN ESTIMATE! If by any chance, the subsidies are not enough, you may need to contribute to the cost, again, we will inform you all the costs etc when we get more details. Obviously- you wont get paid your subsidy/refunded for flights and hotel if you dont attend the trip.... So how is this going to work? We plan to open up a society bank account, everyone who wants to go pays their costs for flights and accommodation- we will calculate the exact costs. You wont have to pay so soon, once the application has been submitted and approved, you will get confirmation of the rates of subsidies and if you are happy with it you can go ahead with it all. We have a lot of background planning to do, including: Getting the best deal, sorting out paper work, forms, receipts etc. We then book the flights, hotel and pass the information to you to have a copy of with exact times, dates on departure, arrival, what hotel. In a bombshell : You then go to Brussels, visit the parliament, get your money back on the same day- we will calculate how much money you will get back before the trip. I understand Trust is a big issue but for whatever reason you dont want to pay the money to us and rather booked your own way to Brussels then speak to either one of us and we will be happy to sort something out. Obviously it will be great to be on the same flight, hotel, also planning wise- it will make our job much easier but hey, we want everyone to go! So let us know. **NOTE: If you are going to do this, dont jump the guns and go book your flights, hotels right this very second.. we need to make sure we reach the minimum 10 people and communicate that everything will be sorted and the dates we are going will be fine. So lot of information to take in.. I and Gareth will be happy to answer any questions if you have any. What do I need from you? NAMES, lots and lots of names! not just any names, DEFINITE NAMES. ASAP We have already got definite 6 and we need to meet our minimum requirement of 10 or this trip wont happen. Please comment below if you would like to come, not just if youre interested. Next stage of this is, once 10 minimum are confirmed, the application process will begin. Application will be submitted for the sponsorship. So we need to communicate to you and you need to be fully dedicated to this trip. We cant afford drop outs. So think twice.
