You wont believe what God did this morning. Please take a minute - TopicsExpress

You wont believe what God did this morning. Please take a minute to read. Not only amazed and how he spoke to me, but I know its a message we all need to hear. Yesterday, I spoke with a friend and her pain broke my heart. She was so overwhelmed with life, she felt she just couldn’t get it all done - kids sports and school activities, cooking healthy meals, Christmas shopping…. she felt pulled in too many directions. I asked her, “Are you able to find time to spend with God? Are you reading your Bible?“ With tears in her eyes she replied, “no”. I’ve been there, I could feel her pain. How about you? Have you had a time in life where you felt your to-do list would never be complete? Do you feel that way right now? After my conversation with my friend, I talked to a few others who were being sucked into the need to perform and provide for Christmas. People feeling stressed due to Christmas really got to me. (even posted on Facebook about it) I went to bed last night with this heavy on my heart. I was trying to think of what I could send my friend to help her. What would be the right verse. It was the last thing I thought about as I fell asleep. I woke up this morning, went to my Bible and was trying to decide what to read. The name Haggai came to mind. I was like “hmmmm I think that’s a book in the Bible”, so I checked the table of contents. Sure enough, there it was. Really not sure how this name even came to my mind (God). Maybe a saw a verse from it one day but I’ve never hear anyone talk about it or preach on it. I really knew nothing about this book but turned to it anyway. OK - wait until you hear what I read. God is so amazing!! I have a study bible and I love how before each book they explain a bit about what I’ll be reading. They give you the jist of it. This is what I read about the book of Haggai “Pressures, demands, expectations and tasks push in from all sides and assault our schedules. Do this! Be there! Finish that! Call them! It seems as though everyone wants something from us family, friends, employer, school, church, clubs. Soon there is little left to give, as we run out of energy and time. We find ourselves rushing through life, attending to the necessary, the immediate, and the urgent. The important is all too often left in the dust. Our problem is not the volume of demands or lack of scheduling skills, but values - what is truly important to us. Our values and priorities are reflected in how we use our resources - time, money, strength, and talent. Often or actions belie our words. We say God is number one, but then we relegate him to a lesser number on our “to do” lists.” OH MY!! Really God, could you make it more clear that you know what is on my heart . I know He directed me to this. Once again, I’m amazed by God’s love for me. He took the time to reach down to me and say, “I’m here. This breaks my heart too. Please remember I need to be #1 on your to-do list” God wants to be #1 on ALL our to-do lists but even more He wants to be involved in everything you do. Please don’t worry about the perfect present, the table being so beautifully set that even Better Homes would be impressed, or stress over finding the perfect outfit for the party. Let the fact that God sent Jesus into this world to save us all and bring us joy fill your thoughts during this wonderful season.
