Your Lord has commanded that you shall worship none but Him, and treat your parents with kindness. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say no word of contempt to them nor scold them, but always speak gently to them and treat them with humility and tenderness and say, My Lord, Have mercy on them, as they raised me up when I was a child Al Isra 23,24 When I read the Divine verses, these thoughts come to my mind: How lucky are the ones whose parents or one of them is still living! If they could only know how lucky they are! How lucky they are to be able to touch them, hug them, smell them, talk to them, listen to them, call them, hear their voices, serve them and make them smile. I hope they realize how fortunate and blessed they are. I sincerely hope they don’t wake up when it is all too late.
