Youth electrocuted in Gulmarg; 2 persons rescued in Awantipora Srinagar, Aug 30: A 27-year-old youth was electrocuted when he was repairing an electric cable at Gulmarg, a health resort place in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district while as police claimed to have rescued two persons from the well at Awantipora. A police spokesman told GNS that Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat (27) son of Sunaullah resident of Wanloo Hajibal, Tangmarg received electric shock while repairing an electric cable near Hotel Alpine in the tourist resort of Gulmarg. “He received serious injuries and was immediately shifted to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.” Meanwhile, police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC in this regard. In another incident, police claimed to have rescued two persons with the assistance of locals from a deep well in a village in Awantipora area. “Two persons Ghulam Nabi Kumar and Bashir Ahmad Bhat residents of Kumar Mohalla, Awantipora fell in a deep well in their village. Timely action of Awantipora police with the assistance of locals rescued both the persons,” the spokesman said. (GNS)
