ZACHARY UPDATE… I spoke to Zach’s mom, Carol, tonight and got a pretty detailed report on Zach’s prognosis. Again, I asked her permission to share this information with my praying friends on Facebook, and she unreservedly said, “YES!” She is desperate for God’s help and His peace. Unfortunately, I did not take notes during our conversation, but here’s the gist of what she shared with me: They arrived at the children’s hospital in St. Louis today believing Zach’s surgical procedure to have one or more stints put in would take about 45 minutes. In St. Louis, however, the “echo gram” and other tests showed extensive blockages in several veins that require the placement of multiple stints; according to the St. Louis doctors, tomorrows procedure(s) will take “minimally five hours” and will most likely need to be repeated as the tissue in his chest that began as histoplasmosis a few years ago, continues to grow around his heart and lungs blocking veins. There was little, if anything, encouraging or hopeful in the doctors’ prognosis: the growths in his chest “could take Zach’s life,” she was told. Let’s continue to cry out to the One who can do anything!
