ZANACO VS ZESCO UNITED #ZBIG1 This coming Weekend a Really interesting match will take place between 2 of Zambias most succesfull clubs over the last 14 years. Zesco United and Zanaco have won 9 of out the last 14 ZSL Titles between them. While Zesco United have produced Greats such as Rainford Kalaba, Joseph Musonda, Hichani Himoonde, Nyambe Mulenga and many more Zanaco have had a bulk of Class players from Stoppila Sunzu to Rodgers Kola, Fwayo Tembo, Rotson Kilambe and others. The Rivalry between both teams intensified over the years due to the players that have switched camps between the 2 teams. Most Notably the ZSLs current Top scorer over the last 14 years Winstone Kalengo who has scored 74 goals since 2003. Kalengo is also the one player who has scored the most Goals in this match up. Scoring 12 times for both Zanaco and Zesco United. Zambias most Capped player Joseph Musonda has also played for both teams. Zesco and Zanaco first met in the league in 2004 when Zesco got promoted and Zanaco were defending Champions having won the league for the second time in 2003. The two teams met in Week 2 as Zanacos Boyd Mulwanda scored and gave Zesco United its first ever ZSL defeat. Both Zanaco and Zesco would not go onto win the league that year but Zesco would become Champions for the first time 3 years later in 2007 becoming the fastest club to win the league after promotion beating Power Dynamos record of 6 years which was set in the 1980s. Zesco would go on to win the league 3 times while Zanaco would win it 4 times and add to their 2002 and 2003 titles. Both teams have met 20 times with Zesco Unites winning 9 times, Zanaco winning 7 and the teams drawing 4 times. With Zanaco at home and on a 7 match winning streak they look like they will breeze past Zesco United who are in 3rd place. Zanaco though havent beaten Zesco since 2012. With only 1 of the 20 matches having been Goaless this match is expected to See a Lot of Exciting Action and Goals in it. Its Zanaco vs Zesco United at Sunset Stadium 14th of June. #ZBIG1
