Zamfara Council Chairman Impeached: __________ The ten Councillors of Anka local government in Zamfara State have unanimously signed and announced the impeachment of the council chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Anka, following their meeting held at the premises of the secretariat. As contained in a letter signed by the 10 councillors of the local government, the resolution was effected based on power conferred on the council by section 26 of the local government law 2000, which empowers the councillors to impeach the chairman when found wanting. The letter further said the council chairman was found wanting in withholding the sum of N7.5 million meant for council members. The council chairman was also accused of running a one-man show, a situation which led to “gross mismanagement of the council resources,” the letter indicatesd The councillors therefore, found the activities of the chairman as contrary to the constitutional provisions as stipulated for running councils administration. The letter said after careful observance of the constitutional provisions, the councillors resolved to impeach the council chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Anka with immediate effect.
