Zil Haj 22 – Bahr-e-Aam Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Shah Yakoob ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ RZ Zil Haj 23 - Urs Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Shah Yakoob ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ RZ Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Shah Yakoob ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ RZ: By the glad tidings of Imamuna Mehdi AS, this noble couple Hz Miran Syed Mehmood ‘Sani-e-Mehdi RZ and Hz Bibi Kad Bano RZ had three sons (Mubashar-e-Mehdi AS). His first son is Hz Syed Abdul Hai ‘Roshan Munawar RZ, second son is Hz Syed Yakoob ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath RZ also well known as ‘Shajaratul-Murshideen’ from him the famous lineage of the ‘Barah Bani Israil-E-Vilayath’ blooms. His 3rd son is Hz Miyan Syed Ahmed RZ passed away in infancy and a daughter Hz Bibi Khunza Fatima RZ (she was given in marriage to Hz Syed Mehmood RA alias ‘Mehmood Shah son of Miyan Syed Ataullah RA). In this way Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Yakoob RZ ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ is the Grandson of Imamuna AS. When Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Mehmood ‘Sani-e-Mehdi’ RZ migrated to Gujrath. In 913H Hz Syed Yaqoob was born at Bhelot. After the passing away of his father Hz ‘Sani-e-Mehdi’ RZ the first khalifa of Imamuna AS this young child for quite some time was in the care of his Grandmother Hz Bibi Malkan RZ wife of Imamuna AS. Before the death of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ when he returned from the detention of Sultan Muzaffar II and was very ill and during that time he made both of his sons his murid and gave them talqin and tarbiath, teachings of Zikr-e-Khafi (the hidden recital of Zikr-Allah). At that time his elder son was 11 years old and this younger son was 7 years old. He said, Miyanji Bhai (i.e Hz Syed Yaqoob RZ) when you reach the age of descretion or young enough, if ever you desire to renew or refresh these teachings, you can get it done from any of the ‘Muhajir Sahaba RZ’ Migrating companion of Imamuna AS. At the time of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ demise his children were very young. As per his advice (saying) all the members of the family (Ahle Baith) Bibi Malkan RZ, Bibi Kad Banu RZ, Bibi Khunza Fatima RZ, Bibi Khunza Gouhar RZ was about 4 years old, Bibi Hidayathullah RZ, Mian Syed Salamullah RZ, Miran Syed Hameed RZ, Miran Syed Ibrahim RZ, his sons Miran Syed Abdul Hay Roshan Munawwar RZ was 11 years old, and Miran Syed Yakoob RZ was 7 years old. They all moved to the daira of Hz Bandagi Miyan Shah Nizam RZ 4th Khalifa of Imamuna AS, who himself sent carriages for the journey of the Holy family of the Imamuna AS. The famous incident of his childhood showing the high spiritual status of Hz Syed Yaqoob RZ: After the demise of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ, an incident occurred, it happened that Hz Bandagi Miyan Bhai Mahajir RZ migrating companion of Imamuna AS once saw this young boy Hz Syed Yakoob RZ approximately 7 years of age playing in sand making sand dunes, after seeing this he went away thinking what happens when the care of father is not on the children. On the same night he saw a reverie (muamila) about the lofty status of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ in the audience of Khalifatullah Imamuna Mehdi AS and how this child Hz Syed Yakoob RZ with soiled hands and dress came running and sat in the lap of his Grandfather Hz Imamuna Mehdi AS, after seeing this reverie (muamila) he repented and the very next morning Hz Bhai Mahajir RZ came running to the quarters of Hz Bibi Malkan RZ and askd for the boy. While the boy Hz Syed Yakoob RZ was still asleep he hugged and woke him and then did the Qadambosi of Hz Syed Yaqoob RZ and politely urged him to say “I forgive you” and said, because some ill things came in my heart reagarding you, the young boy repeated as said and with that he went away happily saying “When Khuda and Khatamain AS are your caretakers, who else can be better caretakers”. It is said that when he became young enough while remembering the saying of his late father RZ, he visited Hz Shah Nemath RZ the migrating companion of Imamuna AS and requested him to give talqin, in response Hz Shah Nemath RZ said, ‘O Khuzadeh (i.e Hz Syed Yaqoob RZ) Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ himself gave you talqin and gave the teaching of Zikr-E-Khafi, I cannot do talqin to the one who had already received it from Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ’ and added, “I don’t have that much strength to give talqin over the talqin of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ”. Upon this reply he was disheatened and turned away to go and during that time Hz Shah Nemath RZ came to know from the soul of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ that ‘Miyan Nemath RZ, Miyanji Bhai RZ wants to ‘renew’ his talqin and ‘refresh’ the teachings of Zikr-e-Khafi do not dishearten him. Upon this Hz Shah Nemath RZ called him back and did (tajdeed) talqin and moreover he was advised to take the name of his Murshid (i.e his father) Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ while reciting the Silsila. After the martydom of ‘Syed-Ush-Shuhada Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Khundmir RZ, one of his trusted Khalifa ‘successor’ Hz Bandagi Malik Illahdad ‘Khalifah Giroh’ RZ was in migration along with his entire Daira. He invited Hz Syed Yakoob RZ from the Daira of Hz Shah Nizam RZ to his Daira and said, go to the house of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ and collect the clothes of your bride, go and get it washed for your wedding tonight, he was 17 years old in this simplicity he was married to ‘Hz Bibi Syeda Raje Ruqaiya RZ’ daughter of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ. It is said later he did Ilaqa with Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ and started living in his companionship in that Daira. It is said that one night during the time of sitting naubath, suddenly an unwanted discussion erupted between him and Hz Bandagi Miyan Peer Mohammed RZ son of Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ supported by another fuqara. Hz Peer Mohammed RZ said, in the khulafa RZ of Imamuna AS the status of Hz Syedain RZ has somewhat eminence, but between the Syedain RZ which one has eminence over the other? (The Aqida of community is both Syedain are equal in status). Hz Khalifa Guroh heard some faint voices, so he came out of his hujra until then the other fuqara involved immediately went away from the discussion site, Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ enquired with Hz Syed Yakoob RZ the matter of discussion, in response Hz Syed Yakoob RZ tried to avoid but on insistence he replied, I am being dragged unnecessarily in the delicate matter of ‘Taswiath-e-Syedain RZ i.e (the equal status of Hz Sani-e-Mehdi RZ and Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ) and I was trying to avoid this debate / discussion. Upon hearing these words Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ caught his finger in his teeth and said, ‘O Khuzadeh (short for Khundkar Zadeh) you have been born to spread the faiz of Mehdi AS to the mankind and do not get involved in this matter, by this discussion nothing will happen to you but the coming generations will be at loss. Then Khalifa Guroh RZ narrated all the 3 sets of Bisharath ‘glad tidings’ (both Separate and mutual) given by Imamuna AS to both the Syedain RZ in detail and the matter was off. So it was due to the far sightedness of not getting involved in this matter by Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ that the glad tidings were once again repeated and came to be known openly in the community and this honor goes to Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ. After this incident Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ felt, I am simply being dragged in this issue without a reason. During this time he thought I already have the talqin from Hz Shah Nemath RZ so it is better I migrate to his Daira and be in his company. On the same night he visited his mother-in-law and apprised her of the incident and said, here people are unnecessarily dragging me in delicate matters’ and took leave of her and came out of the Daira weeping in the midst of the dark night and started migrating towards the Daira of Hz Shah Nemath RZ during that time it was situated in Ahmednagar and at some distance in Bhangar was the Daira of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ. After some time when Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ came to know about the migration of Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ, he said, ‘the Stream of Faiz of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ was flowing in full current somebody might have given him wrong advice to leave the Daira and has broken his stream of faiz’. Some time later when these words were heard by Hz Shah Dilawar RZ he said: “Bhai Dadoo has spoken (gave bisharath) about breaking of his own stream of faiz” [i.e his own son Hz Bandagi Miyan Peer Mohd RZ did not become the khalifa of his father i.e Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ] and his khilafat came to an end. Until Hz Khalifa Guroh RZ lived he was sad that his only son Hz Bandagi Miyan Peer Mohd RZ ‘Sahabi-e-Mehdi AS’ and also a ‘Mubashar-E-Mehdi AS’ is not his khalifa and that is the main reason his silsila of Irshadi ended on himself. He used to say “Hz Peeru Bhai RZ (his son) has hit on his own feet by himself” In the Dark of the night Hz Syed Yakoob RZ miraculously came in the Daira of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ (the adopted son of Imamuna AS), who was very fond of Imamuna AS children. Before his entrance into the daira the inmates of the daira saw that Bandagi Miyan Hz Shah Dilawar RZ was waiting impatiently for an unsusual visitor pacing in and out of his house carrying food and water in his hands. Upon this situation his fuqara asked, ‘khundkar you are looking impatient, are you expecting someone? He replied, what can I say of this noble occasion, listen “The ‘Shahzada-E-Vilayath’ is very soon to set foot in this Daira”. As soon as Hz Syed Yakoob RZ entered the daira he came directly in front of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ and started sobbing and both embraced each other and were locked for a long time and later dinner was served and he spent that night in the Daira of Hz Shah Dilawar Rz and before leaving in the morning (as per one version) he did Ilaqa with Hz Shah Dilawar RZ as he was also an eminent 5th Khalifa of Imamuna AS. Then Hz Shah Dilawar RZ took him along to the daira of Hz Shah Nemath RZ, there they once again met and on this occasion Hz Shah Nemath RZ said ‘Khuzadeh you be in the company of an eminent companion like Hz Dilawar Bhai RZ’. Then Hz Shah Yakoob RZ started living in the Daira and company of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ. After some time, one day Hz Shah Nemath RZ visited the Daira of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ and said, ‘Khuzade I received the holy command you have to establish a new daira and start doing Irshadi’. Upon this Hz Shah Dilawar RZ said, ‘This Banda also received the same command from the Lord Almighty, so that the faiz of Imamuna AS should continue to spread. A separate Daira was established for him and he started his Irshadi from this New Daira under the able guidance of both these elder Khalifas RZ. One day Hz Shah Nemath RZ came and brought along with him Hz Syed Manjuji RZ and Hz Syed Meeranji RZ Sons of Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Hameed RZ a son of Imamuna AS. Hz Shah Nemath RZ said, Khuzade take these brothers of yours in your muridi, in response he said, how can I when an eminent khalifa like you is present, Hz Shah Nemath RZ replied, it is not me but on the command of Imamuna AS, I am saying you to make these brothers your murid, by this incident one can see the noble status held by Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ. After the demise of Hz Shah Dilawar RZ he migrated to Gujrat and here he established dairas at various places. While his Daira was at Balasar and Nagra, from Nagra he sent both his sons Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Yusuf RA and Hz Bandagi Miyan Syed Khundmir RA in the service of Hz Syed Mehmood ‘Syedanji Khatimul Murhsideen RZ son of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ. Afterwards he migrated from Laakh and settled in Jivar, here his wife Hz Bibi Raje Ruqaiya RZ (Daughter of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ) passed away and was laid to rest in the daira. It is said that Hz Bibi Khurshid Bano RZ (Bibi Bhanmati RZ) wife of Imamuna AS is also buried here and from here he migrated towards his last Daira and abode at ‘Makka Khurd’ i.e Daulatabad. During that time Daulatabad was buzzing with Mehdavia activities and Mehdavis held high positions in this Sultanate. It is said, One Mehdavi Mashaiq Shah Ali Daulatabadi and his family use to do irshadi here in Daulatabad and were also leading the life of Land Lords and used to show their family lineage reaching to eminent Khalifa RZ (Allah knows the truth). After the arrival of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ the entire scenario changed now people started flocking to the daira of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ to receive the faiz of Imamuna AS and an aura of Taqwa and Parhezgari prevailed and the well-known noble like Daulath Khan Ali Zai RA (he was a murid of Shah Ali) invited and kept Hz Syed Yakoob RZ in his house and then purchased huge land and donated in the name of Allah SWT to establish his new Daira in Daulatabad. Not only this he was so attached that he use to spend most of his time in the feet of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ due to his piety, piousness and reighteousness. In the mean time the URS of Hz Imamuna AS also arrived so Hz Syed Yakoob RZ conducted the Urs in a grand manner and invited nearly all the residents of Daulatabad, Shah Ali and his disciples were also invited on this holy occasion, after seeing the respect Hz Syed Yakoob RZ held in the masses, Shah Ali and his children felt Jealous and due to that envy while returning from the Urs he also invited Hz Syed Yakoob RZ and said, we will conduct the Urs of Imamuna AS on 29th ziqada, so please be kind enough to attend on the occasion along with the fuqara of the daira and Hz Syed Yakoob RZ accepted the invitation. On that unfortunate night of 29th ziqada Hz Syed Yakoob RZ along with his son and fuqara of the daira attended the Urs and took dinner and after a while everybody sat in a circle around Hz Syed Yakoob RZ the Grandson of Imamuna AS. Suddenly Shah Ali got up and went inside the house and came back with a sweet dish and said, the ladies wanted the paskhurda (sanctified left over) of his eminence. Hz Syed Yakoob RZ said, ‘I don’t take anything after dinner’ and as was the practice of Hz Syed Yakoob RZ he use to instruct one of his son’s (his successor ‘Janasheen’ Hz Miyan Syed Ishaq RA) to give the paskhurda, but on insistance by Shah Ali, Hz Syed Yakoob RZ said, ‘What is in the right of this banda should be taken by this banda alone’, with these words he took a spoonful of that dish and returned the remaining. Soon after taking this sweet then and there itself he started feeling weak and giddiness overtook him. On 23rd Zilhaj 980H, After a gap of about 22 days later due to the effect of this poison at the age of 67 years on 23rd Zilhaj 980 Hijri this son of Hz Miran Syed Mehmood RZ ‘Sani-e-Mehdi’ Shaheed and Grandson of Imamuna ‘Mehdi-e-Maoud AS’ also became a Shaheed and achieved Shahadath martyrdom like their great grand father Hz Syedna Imam Hassan RZ the Grandson of the Noble Prophet SAS due to poisoning. As per a ‘rivayath’ version, His son Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Ibrahim RA ‘Bade Meeran’ (of Gokak, Ibrahimi’s are his descendants) led the funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janazah) because this son was a Mureed and Faqir of his late father; moreover his father Hz Shah Yaqoob RZ gave bisharath to him “the dead is saved from hell fire on which he (Hz Miran Syed Ibrahim RA) led the funeral prayer”. In another ‘rivayath’ version, his second son Hz Miran Syed Ishaq RA led the funeral prayers (Namaz-e-Janazah) and did the last rites. When Hz Syed Yaqub RZ passed away his eldest son Miran Syed Ashraf RA (of Raibagh, Ashrafi’s are his descendants) was away from Doulatabad and arrived 3 days after the burial and some say he arrived after just after the completion of “Mushth-e-Khak” (handful of mud spinkled on dead body thrice, this handful of mud is taken from any 3 sides of the grave except from the feet side). So Hz Miran Syed Ashraf RA desired to see the face of his late father, upon this his younger brother Hz Miran Syed Ishaq RA declined to open the shroud “Kafan” after completion of the ‘Mushth-e-Khakh’ and said ‘Bhia, if it is done now then this will become an example for the coming generation and people will open their dead after 3-3 days to see their faces’. His elder brother Miran Syed Ashraf RZ accepted his words and kept silent, afterwards when they reached the house Hz Miyan Syed Ishaq RA the younger brother put forward his hand to do Ilaqa with his elder brother as successor, in this way Hz Miran Syed Ishaq RA has Ilaqa with his elder brother Hz Miran Syed Ashraf RA. The titles and honorofics of Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ: From his young days he was addressed and regarded with this laqab (Honorific) of ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ and this proof can be seen in the well-known ‘Mahzar’ drawn by Hz Shah Dilawar RZ. Till date the community regards this mahzar as ‘Mahzar Shah Dilawar RZ, after drafting the mahzar Hz Shah Dilawar RZ sent its copies to the eminent personalities in the community. On the copy sent to Hz Syed Yakoob RZ, his name was addressed with the Honorific ‘Hasan-E-Vilayath’ and it was decades before the incident of poisoning occurred, this shows that Hz Shah Dilawar RZ has already predicted and gave Bisharath of martyrdom to the Grandson of Khalifatullah AS in the same manner of Hz Syedna Hassan RZ the Grandson of RasoolAllah SAS. Additional Info on ‘Mahzar Shah Dilawar RZ’: Centuries later a commentary ‘Sharah’ on Mahzar Hz Shah Dilawar RZ was beautifully authored by Mufassir-e-Quran (Tafseer-e-Sadath) Khan Allama Mohammed Sadathullah Khan Sahab ‘Hosh’ Mando Zai RA. His Tafseer and Mahzar with Sharah both are available in the community but with rarity. The family of Hz Syed Shah Yaqoob RZ: He had 5 wifes and 13 children (8 sons and 5 daughter). During his lifetime one daughter passed away and 12 children survived. So that is why he is regarded as the Barah Bani Israil of Vilayath. His 1st wife: Hz Bibi Syeda Raje Ruqaiya RZ (daughter of Hz Bandagi Miyan RZ) they had 2 sons. 1- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Ashraf RA (Raibagh) 2- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Ishaq RA His 2nd wife: Hz Bua Bibi Saheba RA daughter of Hz Bandagi Miyan Malik Gawhar Shah ‘Poladi’ RZ (She was mureed of Bandagi Miyan Hz Syed Shah Khundmir Siddiq-e-Vilayat RZ Shaheed). They had 4 children (2 sons and 2 daughters): 3- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Yousuf RA 4- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Khundmir RA 5- Hz Bibi Raje Fatima RA 6- Hz Bibi Raje Mariam RA. His 3rd wife: Hz Sara Bibi Saheba RA d/o Mn Alam Khan Mewathi RA. They had 5 children (2 sons and 3 daughters): 7- Bandagi Miran Hz Syed Ibrahim Urf Bade Meeran RA. Gokak, Karnataka 8- Bandagi Miran Hz Syed Mahmood Urf Nhanne Meeran RA. Gokak, Karnataka 9- Bibi Mannaji RA, 1st w/o Hz Miyan Abu bakr RA. Gokak, Karnataka 10- Bibi Qunza Buzurg RA, 2nd w/o Hz Miyan Abu bakr RA. Gokak, Karnataka 11- Bibi Khanji RA (Bibi Buaji Bee) w/o Mn Ashraf Mohammed s/o Kabir Mohammed RA His 4th wife: Hz Bibi Sarah RA d/o Hz Nanhe Miyan RA. They had only 1 son: 12- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Alam “fani fillah baqi billah” RA (Beed, Maharashtra) (Compiler of “Naqliath Miyan Syed Alam”) His 5th wife: Hz Bibi Manjli Saheba RA d/o Hz Malik Ismail RA. They had only 1 son: 13- Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Mustafa RA In this way Hz Syed Shah Yaqoob RZ had 13 children (8 sons and 5 daughter). During his lifetime one daughter Hz Bibi Mannaji RA passed away and the remaining 12 children survived. So that is why he is regarded as the “Barah Bani Israil-e-Vilayath”. Moreover he is regarded as “Shajratul Murshideen”. Hz Syed Shah Yaqoob RZ sent his sons to different Daira’s for tarbiath: Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Ashraf RA was mureed & faqeer of Hz Syed Shahabuddin “Shahabul Haq” RZ Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Ishaq RA was tarbiath of Hz Shah Abdul Kareem “Nuri” RZ but faqiri & companionship under his father. Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Yousuf RA and Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Khundmir RA went to Hz Syed Mehmood ‘Syedanji Khatimul Murshidin’ RZ Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Alam RA “Fani Fillah Baqi Billah” is mureed & faqir of Hz Khatim-e-Kar RA Hz Bandagi Miran Syed Mustafa RA is mureed & faqir of his eldest brother Hz Miyan Syed Ashraf RA in the family itself The Present caretakers of the Daira Hz Syed Shah Yaqoob RZ: Currently the caretaker of Daira Hz Syed Shah Yakoob RZ ‘Hasan-e-Vilayath’ at Daulatabad is Peer-O-Murshid Al Haj Hz Syed Khundmir Mujtehdi, S/O Late Peer-O-Murshid Al Haj Hz Syed Najmuddin Mujtehdi RA. Now the nominated khalifa ‘successor’ is his son Al Haj Hz Moulana Syed Ismail Tanveer Mujtehdi [Sajjadah Daira Kalan (Bada Daira) Houz ki Masjid, Musheerabad]. O Allâh! Send your blessings (and the Holy Words of Yours) upon Muhammad SAS and the family of Muhammad SAS, as You have send blessings upon Ibrâhim A.S and the family of Ibrâhim A.S. You are worthy of all praise, All Glorious. O Allâh! Bless Muhammad SAS and the family of Muhammad SAS as You have already blessed Ibrâhim A.S and the family of Ibrâhim A.S. Make us live and make us die and on the Day of Judgement judge us in the group of Mahdavis by the honour of the Kalima-e-tayyaba-e-Muhammad SAS and by the tasdiq of Hz Imam Mahdi AS and Your Infinite Mercy.
