Zim boxer to fight Burkina Faso opponent: Zimbabwe’s Charles Manyuchi is in Burkina Faso for an African Boxing Union (ABU) welterweight title fight against Burkinabe Patrick Teko on Friday evening and is confident of winning the title from his much fancied-opponent in his own backyard. Manyuchi, who is contracted to Oriental Quarries Boxing Stable in Zambia, formalised his boxing licence with the Zimbabwe Boxing and Wrestling Board of Control last week. He faces Teko who is the title holder and has an impressive record of 18 fights, 17 wins and one loss. The 24 year-old Manyuchi, who is now based in Zambia, has 13 fights 10 of which are wins, four of them by knockouts. Manyuchi has two losses and a draw. Speaking from Ouagadougou, Manyuchi said he is confident of causing a major upset and winning the title fight against his more experienced 30 year-old opponent who is ranked lower at around 436 in the world. Manyuchi is ranked 196 in the world out of the 1 654 boxers in his category, but has won his last seven fights which he fought against opponents from Malawi, DRC, Namibia and South Africa, giving him the much needed experience and exposure. Teko has fought all his fights in his home country, but Manyuchi is hopeful of causing an upset in the French-speaking country.
