a Facebook post by Elder Bradley Newton: Dear Family and Friends The language is going good. I am trying to talk more but it is a very difficult language especially when some people speak half Ukrainian and half Russian, but I am able to understand most of what people are saying and I can easily understand Russian now it’s really weird Good/Bad news about the My skin condition. Good news: It’s not a rash. Bad news: When I first came to Uzhorod, a bug decided that I was a good host and burrowed in my skin and started to lay eggs and do its business. Remember in Indianan Jones when that bug goes under his skin. That is what I have just much smaller. More good news: We went to a Hospital and they found out what it was (I don’t remember the name) but it is a scarab. Bad news: Look back on the word Hospital. Those quotes are meant to be there. I am not 100% about this hospital. It was dirty and broken down pretty much this hospital was standing when Stalin was alive. I was walking down the hall and saw a DOCTOR smoking and drinking coffee with a friend INSIDE of the hospital hallway. I was sitting in his office and I notice that a majority of the medical instruments have a stamp that says CCCP which stands for Соединенные Советская Социалистическая Республика or USSR. Almost all of the medical equipment here is from the USSR times. We also have to buy new bed and stuff and spray our entire thing with Permeterine besides that whole bug thing the week went great. We are taught a kid named Albert he already knows everything about our religion and wants to be a missionary. And we are teaching another kid named Sasha he is awesome and will be baptized in the next few weeks. We picked up 2 more investigators that were taught a while back but went to Kiev and now are back so we are trying to teach them but it is very difficult to get an appointment with them. I participated in the Mormon Helping hands, Possibly the smallest helping hands I have ever helped at. We had 6 missionaries and 1 member working together to clean under a bridge. We found lots of interesting things that would make my mom worry so I will not mention them here. I try to look for the good in each week and the tender mercy of the week is that we have Dr. Pepper in Uzhorod, and we are able to start teaching Albert whose parents banned him from taking the lessons in previous times. All is well here in the Ukraine, I Love serving here and I know this is where I was supposed to be sent at this time. I have received so many blessings in this area and being a missionary is one of the greatest blessings of all. Love, Elder Newton
