a few of you have a asked how gary is doing since his total knee replacement. i posted some stuff but it is in a short thread below. in case someone interested did not see it i will give you all a progress report. i am so very proud of him. he has been going to p.t. twice a week. he has been going to the same place for different issues throughout the years. more on them after... Gary went to see dr. grewe last week and doc said his flexion is perfect so he doesnt have to see him for a YEAR! normally he would expect his patient to come back in 3 weeks! so all his work and PT is really paying off. he is still on the pain pills, esp. on PT days. that is normal. the doctor has been weening him down VERY approrpriately.(often ortho docs are known to give lots of narcs then cut you off in an instant. i have experienced personally and heard other medical staffers and patient complain that orthopods are just not prone to be aware of the best way to hand out powerful narcotics. as i said he gives gary a few less every time gary renews his rx and dr. grewe told him hed say when the last rx will happen. that is the perfect way. dr. grewe is someone i have been with for 35 eyars!(gasp) and i worked with him in surgery back when i worked. so i knew gary was in good hands. he is doing mostly strength training since the muscles are completely detached in surgery. as for the folkss at mt. scott PT. they gave him a company shirt when they gave them out to staff. they always have a donut or candy available and gary rarely comes home empty-handed. one employee gives him a french braid every visit. it is like they cloth, feed and groom the guy! gary makes friends where ever he goes.they are incredible generous to him. I am decorating a tiny tree for the office. i hope they like it. i have finished one tree and have 3 more to go. then the big tree. wheeeee.(Ill be sure to post a pic) happy thanksgiving every-buddy.i am VERY grateful to each and every single one of you.
