a friend went to court over a charge of not registering on the electoral roll. Here is part of his report: ...HOWEVER! HERE IS THEIR SCAM, AND THE REMEDY, which we found out through questioning the Witness (Electoral Registration Officer) about the form. The form they send out is boxed out so you can give them the information they request. This allows them to determine eligibility. BUT what they do not tell you (not full disclosure) is that as soon as you return that form, they convert it immediately into an application to register. Consequently, if you fill out the form you abide by section 23 - provide information when requested- but you just gave up your right to NOT register. If you dont fill out the form, you retain your right to register (or not) but you will then be liable under section 23 for not providing information! Deceptively clever! SO... when the form comes out, write a letter giving all the information they want. State that this conforms with Section 23, then write under it: Not to be used as an application for registration. That way you provide the information they demand AND keep your rights...
