a young girl is taken into the kitchen by her grandmother and is told to boil three different pots of water. when the water is piping hot, she is told to put eggs in to one, carrots into another, and coffee beans in the last one. Watch as the eggs are soft and fragile and the carrots are hard as rocks, said the grandmother. after half an hour, the grandmother turned off the burners and told her granddaughter to take a look into the pots. See how the eggs hardened and the carrots softened, she said What happened to the coffee beans? as the granddaughter looked into the third pot and found it full of rich coffee. They changed, said the grandmother sweetly. the granddaughter was confused by this exercise and so she asked What was the point of all this? See the boiling water as pressure and stress; notice how the eggs start out soft and after applying pressure they harden; the carrots are hard and weaken with pressure; the coffee beans however, adapted to their surrounding and transformed into something better and far richer. I see, said the granddaughter. So when the world begins to pressure you, what will you do? harden like the eggs, soften like the carrots, or will you change and adapt into something better like coffee? Coffee for sure, said the granddaughter. so i pose the question to you, what are you? coffee, carrots, or eggs? i am coffee.
