addiction is a behavior, like shopping, like voting, it quells an inner pain, and when the behavior no longer works one looks for another, and then another, and the fact is that no behavior other than introspection at an HONEST level will abate pain, I said abate, not get rid of, There will always be a pain and it will be up to you to LEARN how to deal with it, and since your pain is just that yours only you can do anything with it. No one or anything else can help, ONLY YOU. How did you have this childhood trauma, simple, a child is like a sponge without a layer to stop any absorption, for the cognitive functions/discernment have not yet been fully formed, and you carry all that undealt with emotion in EVERY CELL in your body, this is why CANCER comes back, it is EVERYWHERE. No so called higher power will work, YOU are your own higher power
