I wrote 1,997 words today...3 words short of 2,000 and 103 words short of 45,000. My goal is 50,000- 55,000 words before I end the first installment in this three-book series. Wish I had more free days like this to just write. For those of you who have pestered me to find out what the novel is about, here is a brief excerpt: Mercy! He didn’t deserve mercy. I started to pick up the phone and call information to get his wife’s number. I knew her name and I knew where she worked because he had told me. I was angry and I wanted to lash out. Instead, I replaced the phone on the receiver. Why should I hurt her just because he had hurt me? My first thought after that was to call Mark. I refrained. I knew the angry and hurt words spewing out of my mouth would only make me feel more miserable than I already was. Yes, I might feel a temporary relief but it wouldn’t last. Instead, I decided my flowerbeds needed weeding. I had ignored them for several weeks. I call it weed therapy. It’s better than paying for a shrink. For the next several hours, I released my anger on my knees in the dirt, jerking and pulling the stubborn weeds from the many flowerbeds gracing my property. Normally, it took me almost an entire day to accomplish the task. However, I usually wasn’t using anger as my motivation to get the job done. While weeding wasn’t my favorite thing to do, I loved feeling the cool dirt between my fingers. I seldom wore gloves, preferring instead to feel the soil instead of the artificial material covering my hands. Finishing my therapy, I wiped dirty hands on the rear of my blue jeans. Removing my cell from my shirt pocket, I dialed Mark’s number. I figured he was expecting my call. I was right because he answered immediately. Before he could even say hello, I said, “Why, Mark, why?”
