I am very proud to be able to report that a young PCYC boxer – Satali Fuimaono – has won the Gold Medal at the World Junior Amateur Boxing Titles in Kiev, Ukraine. This is a great achievement for Satali, a proud young PCYC Boxer. Satali beat representatives from Slovakia, China (the Asian Games gold medallist), Ukraine (a European Champion) and Russia (2 times European Champion) to end up as the middleweight gold medallist. It’s also a great achievement for our Boxing Coordinator and Satali’s trainer – Joel Keegan – who has developed Satali from the first time he came into Umina interested in starting boxing. A few years ago, as arguably the largest amateur boxing supporter in the country, we renewed our commitment to this sport, developed a junior boxing curriculum and established an academy squad to resurrect the leadership role PCYC had had in the past in the sport. It’s great to see that commitment paying off for our young boxers. On behalf of the PCYC, I congratulate Satali and Joel for this great achievement. Regards
