. . . another lesson in not losing faith (or your shit) when literary disaster strikes . . . last night, in the wee hours, i finished an essay that is of supreme importance to the life of my forthcoming book, This is your Life, Harriet Chance! Essentially, this 1500 word essay was to start the conversation about the book amongst booksellers and readers and reviewers . . . i was ecstatic upon finishing the essay, as it was an intimidating prospect from the start . . . moments after completing it, my computer crashed . . . that essay, though id been saving it every three minutes instinctively, went down the rabbit hole . . . i tried for four hours to recover it . . . it was simply nowhere . . . according to my computer, i had not worked in word since 9:07 yesterday morning . . . i literally cried from the frustration . . . this morning, i had no choice but to put my shoulder back to the wheel and try an recreate the essay . . . man, the human mind blows doors on any PC or Mac . . . i was able to rewrite the thing, nearly verbatim, in two hours . . . moreover, i improved the essay in large measure . . . another testimony to the fact that the work is never wasted, kiddos, never truly lost . . .
