...another session at knee class today. Twice a week we in the class go through 10 different exercise stations and ten minutes with ice packs for a total of 90 min. Each week we are measured to see how well we can straighten our leg(s) and how far we can bend our leg(s) (there are two of us that had bilateral replacement). Today the head therapist asked if he had missed anyone. I said you havent done my measurements yet. He responded, I am afraid to do your measurements. ??? You are doing so well only 5 weeks after surgery. First I corrected him, I had surgery 4 weeks ago today and then I said well what are the goals we are after. Straight legs are 0 degrees and bent is 120 degrees. ...... measured in 5 degree intervals. I looked at my chart straight measurement is -10 degrees (so 10 degrees to goal)and bent left leg is 115 degrees and right leg is 120 degrees. Bless God for His strength to do my exercises at home and at knee class. I am so grateful for the continued encouragement I receive from, family, friends, and my church family. In my weakness He makes me strong. This entire process gives me new perspective on a daily basis. I am discovering a new respect for those that see the world from a sitting position without the promise of this only being for a season. A great understanding of the obstacles there are trying to function doing everyday tasks. I am blessed to be looking at only a few weeks more until I am able to walk without some sort of assistance and a few months until I will be enjoying the ability to move about with out pain or a limp.
