as part of my martial arts instructor responsibilities - i have - TopicsExpress

as part of my martial arts instructor responsibilities - i have always tried to give the best to my students - doesnt aways work and sometimes i dont have that special connection with some of the young ones - to them im the scary man that shouts and has them working too hard. However too many expect too much at times and its very draining - especially when you have given so much of yourself to get certain individuals with real talent - or those with special needs to allow them to blossom as a martial artist and a person. This years has been especially tiresome with a number of key students reaching what they think is their pinnacle and leaving - its heart breaking at time. Sometimes i wonder - is it all worth it - and you know - yes it is. To see a child come into class for that first trial session and then progress all the way through to achieving that black belt - is an awesome` feeling for them but also for us the instructors -and i wouldnt change it for all the tea in china. Great job - vocation to have in life. As with everything else it has its ups and a good number of downs. The real downs is when kids leave before they achieve their full potential status as they want to do something easier and therefor more fun. remember a black belt is a white belt that just didnt quit. This year i have grown so much as a person myself (and no Im not talking about my waistline) as i have been developing the healing side of my personality. So hopeful I will learn to deal with the painful reality of failure for others a bit better within my own self esteem issues. ah so greasshopper
