below you will find the longest reply comment I have ever written. If you want to understand it fully go to the advanced robotics video i put up yesterday and find it in the comments the discussion is quite interesting! lol Sir I am very glad you are a learned man, However I think our ocular planes are not on a converging heading. Some might say many new technologies could have a militarised end goal, less we forget nearly all out modern surgical techniques were developed on the scarlet battlefield as indeed were many of the devices were commonly use today. Indeed Sir it would seem clear at this point in a few years they will have the technology to make a relentless mass killing automaton. I cannot hope above the reality that it is almost invertible. However! Sir this is to see only In to the bad side of human nature. As the great Charlie Chaplin once said “We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that.” Though it would seem in the cold artificial light of modern day many have lost this most basic of instincts, I feel deep down it doth remain in the majority. Just think of all the good things these robots could do for us, a carer for every old person a replacement for the guide dog, a “man” able to carry out work relentlessly such as building a house, think how fast it could be done think of the saving being passed on in the form of cheaper housing and building costs. Yes this is idealistic but realistic non the less. Now let us move on to this most Hymenoptera of debates. If a day comes that out dearest of arthropods the humble bee (pun intended) were to die out to the existent we would need persons to walk from flower to flower with a paintbrush in the aid of pollination please envisage the cost of such an undertaking. We are not just talking about the mono culture of the modern food production system for human consumption and the assumption of such is to show a narrowed view. We are talking about every single plant and flower our divine little workers are servicing. This sir would also knock out your genetic argument as this would only be viable to food crops within these already Frankenstein foods they produce already, this negates the vast proportion of plant life. As such a learned man should realise this would not have a happy outcome for humans or the planet as a whole. I do not portend for one moment that the idea of creating a robotic bee replacement would be a easy short term quick fix it indeed would cost a huge sum of money, but the notion to replace all the bees with our paintbrush welding persons is maybe even more ridiculous. The average bee may visit 5000 plants a day with memory of areas recently covered, that’s one bee and a hive has tens of thousands of bees. One hive say 30000 bees could visit 150 000 000 (one hundred fifty million) plants in one day! That’s just 1 hive! Now how many paintbrush holding men do we need to match the work of one single hive on one single day? Too many! So although the seemingly preposterous idea of making a force of millions of tiny robotic bees to replace our native bees of even to help them in there busy endeavors seems like outlandish poppycock it really isn’t. Lastly its form why make it small insect like? Because 65-120 million years of evolution says that’s the best way! I may be dreaming but better to dream a dream hope than to live the most darkest of reality’s!
