●●●●beyond red alert●●●● This lil man almost got pts yesterday. They said hes a lil meany, others say hes spoiled and needs discipline. He stopped barking when I sat in front of his kennel. He took treats gently out of my hand. Saint is a 3 year old, intact male English Bulldog, who weighs about 52lbs. He is for rescue only because he displays dominance aggression towards people and can be unpredictable. He was in fact, surrendered on July 19th for that reason. That being said, he has several redeeming qualities and has the potential to be an excellent pack member. What we know about him is that he his uncomfortable about be touch around the neck or face. If you get to close to his face he will charge. He is territorial in his kennel and will usually charge and try to bite if you put your hands up while the door is closed. However, he responds well towards confidence, and will calm down if you engage him without fear. I was able to retrieve him from his cage without issue, and was even able to walk him on leash because I asserted myself. He allows you to touch him along his torso, and seems to enjoy contact to an extent. He loves walks - they seem almost therapeutic for him. He is pleasant on the leash and does not pull or stray from your side. When walked through the kennels and seated down next to a dog in its kennel- he was extremely calm, and nonreactive. I believe he would do well with other dogs, as long as his alpha behavior is addressed. He is a diamond in the rough. The staff here at North Central sees his potential, and knows he just needs love, and an experienced, patient owner. You may not be able to rescue this guy but you may know someone who can, please spread the word.
