coming out of the Snye to the road yesterday my nose caught the aroma of wood smoke wafting in the air. I think it was coming from David Johnsons place. I paused for a moment while Sailor did his final inspections of the markers in the snow and remembered our little wood stove when I was a child. We lived in a two room house for many years before it was enlarged and that little stove kept us warm. It would glow red in the night and cast these little dancing shadows on the walls in the dark night. Those shadows were our nightlights. Although it was chilly in the morning until one of my parents got up and stoked it, we soon reveled in the warmth it quickly created. There was the usual scramble for socks hanging around the stove and then breakfast. That warmth of those times has stayed with me and all it takes is just a little whiff of smoke to trigger memories that causes my heart to glow. Thank you Creator.
