f. To consider ones solitary position. (Since you) will have to suffer thus, take up the bright lamp of the threefold virtue; (otherwise), you alone will have to enter the endless darkness which is not destroyed by sun or moon. Everything is impermanent, so at any moment one may die. One should think that at the time if death one must go alone, without any help from friends or companions. Therefore, if one has the opportunity to practice virtuous deeds of body, speech and mind, then one should do so immediately. As Master Chandrakirti said in the Madhyamakavatara that; If one does not take hold of these (virtues) when one has the requisites and is under owea own power, (then) after having fallen into the abyss and come under the power of another, how can one arise? One day one will have to go alone and will be faced with many difficulties. At that time, it will be too late for anything to be done. Also, as its said in the Bodhisattvas way if life that; Though all relatives and friends gather around while one lie on the bed, the feelings of the ceasing of life will be experienced by oneself alone. When I have been caught by the messenger of Yama, of what benefit are ones relatives, of what benefit are ones friends. Virtue is the only refuge at that time, but that also was not relied upon by one.
