family from Rift valley has taken the headlines because its members can see well during daytime but at sunset they lose their sight completely. According to Emily Jeruto, a victim, they have lost one of their kin recently after she was swept by the waters. The woman was walking from the market when evening fell before she arrived at home. She lost her sight and headed to the river where she died after drowning. They have to work extra hard during the day to compensate for night time because they can hardly see a thing. It is only their mother who sees partially using her one eye who guides the whole family when the sun sets. The family has now been considered an outcast and is not welcomed in the neighbouring villages. Dorothy Mutie, a doctor who spoke to the media said that the problem is not witchcraft but a genetic condition. She added that treatment is not easy only visual aids can be prescribed. The family now lives with the hope that one day their problem will be addressed and that their future generation enjoy life.
