****fantastic news**** Chuckie had the honor (again) to have Dr. Ryan Darcy come to his room today to test him with the Halifax Scanner that he developed. Dr. Darcy is one of the world’s foremost neuroscientists. He personally came and tested Chuckie back in early July at Surrey Memorial Hospital. In fact : Chuckie was one of the first people to have the test done while in B.C. So overwhelmed to have him come back and visit Chuckie again and repeat the test. Our new PT (physiotherapist) here at this facility went to meet with them on several occasions to discuss Chuckie. He got things moving again. We had only found out late this week that they were coming and just gave us enough time to switch around appointments. Chuckie stayed very awake and alert during all the testing compared to months before where it was more of a challenge to keep him awake. Dr Darcy and his colleagues with him today, noticed how much more alert and focused Chuckie was too. Dr Darcy seemed interested in Chuckies HBO treatments, but sits on the fence about the topic (and as most scientists would) there still is not enough clinical evidence and studies out there with Traumatic Brain injuries. He knows of remarkable stories and of others that didnt show much bearing. Scientists like the facts. None the less he seems interested about it which is good, and also let me know of some of the new Neuro equipment hes coming out with. I let him know that wed love to participate and to continue a mutually useful relationship working with him. We agreed to do more testing in 3 months time. This is such a good positive thing for Chuck, he is a definitely a lucky guy to have this amazing scientist working with him. We will await for the test results it could be a few weeks again. I know we are still early in the game with his Brain injury, hopefully hes shown some cognitive improvement since his last test.
