fell in love with Cambodia in one day...I think this is the original Garden of Eden... beautiful people, architecture, somehow a perfect blend of Thailand & India... decked out in handwoven rainbow bracelets by Cambodian street angel kids, including a black ink magic marker tattoo all over my forearm drawn by same kids during a spontaneous art & drawing session...one of the kids sells maps to tourists on the street and probably makes more money than me! after this the best food I have ever eaten in my life (Cambodian pumpkin pineapple curry and tapioca and bananas in coconut milk for dessert!), the bled of Cambodian spices is indescribable then, with a bamboo flute bought at the local market by one of the kids, I had two epic music sessions with traditional Cambodian string bands (which feature percussion, hammer dulcimer, and one string violin)...beautiful percussive raga music....the local musicians were amazed that I could just show up and sit in with them, though they said, "you understand our music"...performed for hundreds of people walking by on the main tourist street with one of these bands...apparently these same types of bands perform all day long in Angkor Wat and I could also play with them when I go...amazingly I left my silver flute in BKK...will have to bring it next time
