@fitzhunter @pennifold NINE complaints alleging breaches of the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System have been made this year. #banliveexport Out of the nine complaints made with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, four complaints are currently under investigation, three are under assessment and two have been completed. Seven of the complaints have been made in the past two months with five of the complaints made by Animals Australia. Last week a complaint alleging breaches of the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System was made in regards to cattle in Vietnam. Evidence has been provided to DAFF and an investigation has begun. The department has informed Vietnamese officials and contacted the exporter implicated in the complaint. A report made in May about possible non-compliance with ESCAS arrangements in Oman was found to have insufficient information to commence an investigation. DAFF received the report from an external party about the possible movement of sheep to a facility outside approved supply chains in Oman. DAFF said the department reviewed the information, sought further information from exporters to Oman and undertook independent enquires. The department were unable to confirm the report of possible movement of sheep out of approved supply chains. DAFF said no instances or leakage of Australian sheep have been identified in independent performance audit reports provided to the department for Oman supply chains. Further investigations currently in progresses are non–compliance with ESCAS requirements in sheep exported to Kuwait, sheep, goats and cattle exported to Malaysia and sheep exported to Jordan as well as animal welfare issues at abattoirs in Egypt. weeklytimesnow.au/article/2013/07/11/576313_business-news.html
