flyafrica Operates Inaugural Victoria Falls – Johannesburg Flight flyafrica, Africa’s Low Fare Airline, has launched its first flight from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg. Flight Z7107 departed Victoria Falls on time bound for Johannesburg, and their flight schedule will commence from Johannesburg on Wednesday 23 July. The inaugural flight launches the operational activity for the airline that will revolutionise travel and bring low fares to passengers. “The flight is a milestone both for our airline and for African aviation,” says Adrian Hamilton-Manns, Group CEO of flyafrica. “We have successfully launched Africa’s first low fare airline. It was done on time and as planned. It is a testament to our experienced team who have exceeded all requirements and to the support of both the South African and Zimbabwean regulatory authorities who assisted us.” Flyafrica has also committed to publishing its On-Time Performance (OTP) every week on its website, flyafrica. OTP reporting is a global standard but one that South African airlines have avoided. Flyafrica will publish weekly, independently verified, OTP statistics based on global best practise. “We will record our OTP and publish it to allow the travelling public to make informed decision on their airline of choice,” says Hamilton-Manns. “We believe in transparency and we challenge the other airlines to follow us and do the same.“ The low fare airline will initially operate scheduled flights between Johannesburg and Victoria Falls on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sunday. From September, flyafrica has added a Monday flight in response to the overwhelming demand for low fares. “From the moment we offered 99 Rand to Victoria Falls we have been overwhelmed with the support and enthusiasm for our low fares,” continues Hamilton-Manns. “While there has been some scepticism that it is a gimmick and is too good to be true the vast majority of people have supported and encouraged us. With the first flight completed and a second airline within the flyafrica group about to be announced, we are confident that the travelling public will embrace the low fare revolution we are bringing.” The airline’s website flyafrica is still offering fares from R99 between Zimbabwe and Johannesburg. “Flyafrica is committed to reducing the cost of flying in Africa; to show this commitment we have extended the R99 offer but only for a limited time as seats are selling fast,” concludes Hamilton-Manns.
