from Bill Fletcher -- "There are always turf battles among unions. It is a sign of the myopia of many of the leaders of organized labor that during times like these some would continue to try to chip away at the gains of other unions rather than building solidarity. I regret the ILWU pulling out of the AFL-CIO but can understand the frustration that they experience when other unions undermine them. This remains part of a larger problem. It certainly speaks to the need for a transformative movement within organized labor that not only tosses out many of the leaders but builds a different culture, a culture of solidarity." portside.org/2013-09-02/longshore-union-quits-afl-cio
