from my journal today...(hang in there...its long) Weve made the halfway mark. In some ways it has gone quickly, in others very slowly. I feel like I am adapting well - although I was very homesick last night. I am missing the comforts of home, but I know it is so good for me to be here having my heart broken daily with all of the suffering I see around me. With a broken heart I will pray more, advocate more, love more. And, I am drawing closer to God as I experience His heart for all nations and all people. I am so grateful my children are also able to understand these truths about God and people in a way that I couldnt just explain to them from the comforts of the western world. What a gift. I pray this trip sets them on a path to live each day with eternal intentions. Praise the LORD for His grace. His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness as He brings sleep to an elderly man on a cold night sleeping with nothing but a potato sack as a blanket on the muddy, cold concrete. Great is His faithfulness as He provides a meal to a street child with no family to call her own. Great is His faithfulness as He reveals the Good News of His Son to so many here who have begun to lose hope. Our God is an awesome God. Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of all people, first for the Jew then for the Gentile.
