good day. I am sitting here reflecting on this journey I have been on. I feel like my heart has been run over by a steam roller. My mind is reeling with the stories that we heard from the families. Even though I have heard them over and over again it never seems to get any easier. Especially with the older cases my heart breaks when I see those family members still suffering because there has been absolutely no answers, good, bad or indifferent. The pain is embedded in their hearts to the point where they think nobody cares. Yet when you speak to the authorities it is far too obvious that they dont care. Having been in this movement for almost a decade, I have seen no positive changes made especially on the Highway of Tears. I think of the Highway of Tears Symposium in 2006 and how all our families united for a few short days and put recommendations together so that we can all work together to protect our future generations. The recommendations came from the hearts of the families who still have no answers about their lost loved ones today. Whether the Carrier Sekani like me or not, I really dont care, I am still very proud of the work they did to bring the Highway of Tears to the forefront in BC. I did not choose to become a family member, but, I will continue to raise awareness for my family and all the other families I have met over the years in the hopes of a better future for our women and also for all the children who have been left behind. Why? Because of those family members I have built a good relationship with over the years. We share the same pain in searching for our loved ones and trying to find the answers we need to move forward in a positive way. Many have been in this black hole of the unknown for far too long. Me, I know I will be heartbroken for a while, but. all of you are always in my prayers because I do honestly care....love you all...have a great day....
