growing up Buddhist in North Carolina, I often felt like it wasnt my place to ever talk about religion because the world around me was rooted in Christianity. and even in the slam community, I often miss biblical references in poems because Ive never read the Bible. as Im getting older, Im learning the value of faith regardless of what religion you practice, and it was my greatest honor to share a small piece of how Buddhism has been a foundation for me at the National Poetry Slam. huge thanks to Button Poetry for posting this on their channel.
