To her the sightings and the misfortune around them, was an omen of bad times to come and she was certain, that this was just the beginning. She was afraid for a minute but couldn’t resist finding out more and she concentrated again. “In the distance I see a graveyard.” She paused and looked at the gloomy faces around her. “There are seven graves in all…and a beautiful young woman sitting on each.” Bella was silent for a minute as she studied the images in her mind. It was all becoming clear to her as she put two and two together. “I am afraid to tell you all…that everything points towards the birth of the legend of yester years.” She requested them to ask any specific questions. Her guardian angels conveyed the answers through the crystal ball in a simple “yes” or “no”. The parents started to talk amongst themselves. It was May’s question, in her feeble voice that silenced the crowd. “Ask the spirits if the girls would be able to find their way back.” Bella looked into the ball and asked the question and soon she said “yes”. “Are the five figures present evil?” Kiran asked. “Yes,” Bella said without hesitation. The women started to chatter amongst them until Jagan shushed them. They were afraid of all the revelations so far, yet the inquisitive minds yearned to know more about their missing, loved ones. “Will the girls be okay when they come home?” Nancy, who was getting jittery about what they were being told by Bella, asked. “No! No! No!” Bella shrieked as if she had seen something ghastly. There was commotion as her shrieks echoed through the house. Bella was not herself when someone asked another question. She was shaking and Jagan tried to steady her. “Ask if the girls will remember anything.” “Yes,” Bella shouted. She lowered her eyes closer to the magic ball and then with a concerned look on her face, she moved back. Bella shook her head and glanced quickly around the room. “Something happened.” Bella got on her knees. “I cannot read, or see anything in the crystal ball.” A sudden breeze zipped through the house, leaving a deep chill behind. The women moved back from the centre of the room, closer to the men. It was happening all too suddenly and the men got up. There was a presence in the house and whatever it was, Bella could sense the evil.
