hows everyone doing? :) weve been SUPER busy here. I had a couple friends ask me to make them some cookies. I made 500+ cookies for a grad party (lemon crisps, choc choc chip, decorated sugar cookie cutouts, whoopie pies, brownie bites w/4 different toppings) phew that was a lot LOL & then I did another 60+ decorated sugar cookie cutouts for a boy themed baby shower. they were SO fun to do & turned out really cute. Theres also lots of spruce up work happening which makes this lady very happy! haha I wanted to FINALLY share that new project with you guys. I dont have step by step pictures but Ive broken things down where I think you can easily follow it. ~~ Decorated Candles ~~ These idea is not mine but something I learned how to do about 8 (?) yrs ago or so from another crafting community I visited frequently. TOOLS NEEDED: **smooth pillar candles in light color - cream or white works best. I got mine from dollar tree **white tissue paper - I got mine from the dollar tree **cardstock - used as a carrier for printing **scotch tape **clip art **knowledge of image editing/picture editing program (think photoshop, paint shop pro, gimp etc) **printer - Ive used both ink jet & laser color printers; both work well **scissors **heat gun/hair dryer **plastic/cello bags **ribbon/raffia for decoration STEPS: First - decide which image(s) youd like to use. I found square/rectangular shaped images worked best if wrapping all the way around. You can certainly do an oval/circle shape - think monograms which are still very hot right now! This is where knowledge of an image editing program will come in handy. I personally use paint shop pro. I measured the length & width around the candle to make a template. Then I filled that template with my images I wanted to use. PSP has a layout feature where I can fill a full size 8.5 x 11 size area with as many items that will fit for efficient printing. Prepare your tissue paper & cardstock. I did several of these ahead of time so I could print & cut a lot out at once & then make several candles at one time. It was just more efficient for me. Cut your tissue paper about an inch longer & wider than a normal piece of paper. Youre basically wrapping the cardstock with the tissue paper - single sheet - and taping to the back. I taped down as much as I possibly could to avoid snags/jams in my printer. Make sure you know how to feed the paper into your printer so it prints on the TISSUE not the back w/the tape. Print your images on the tissue paper & let dry - only takes a few minutes, if that even. Then cut off the tissue paper...dont cut the card stock...you can re-use that! Grab a candle and place the tissue paper w/image on the candle and hold with one hand while using the heat tool to adhere the tissue paper image. Start in the front middle of the candle & wave the heat tool across the candle/image until you see the wax begin to melt... keep moving the heat tool to avoid drips and huge dents in the candle. Ive seen some people use wax paper to cover the candle and do this. Ive never done that so cant say how well it works. Once the image starts to melt into the candle you can start to turn the candle and continue melting the wax all around the piece of tissue paper. When finished, set aside to cool. When cooled - which wont take long - place in bag & tie off with ribbon or raffia. I sold a lot of these at my craft shows. small - $5.00 med - $8.50 lg - $12.50
