https://facebook/AmericanSportsSaloon?fref=ts THEY TOSSED US OUT! The French Quarter is known for its diversity and generous hospitality for people from all walks of life. So imagine our shock today when my daughter Mariah and her friends (who are also employees of mine) and their two Pit Bull pups were kicked out of this place. When I got the phone call from Mariah, I couldnt believe my ears. My youngest daughter who is always so respectful and sweet to everyone, was thrown out in front of a crowd of people and was so humiliated. Mariah and her friends were doing what so many dog owners in New Orleans do; they were spending the afternoon in the FQ and enjoying the outdoor seating at this tiny little hole in the wall bar. They ordered their food and then within minutes, she said that the waiter told them via the manager that their business wasnt welcome there. When questioned further, all the waiter kept saying was everyone is uncomfortable with you being here and mentioned something about their looks. I went into my dont you F with my daughter mode and raced down to the Quarter, camera crew in tow. Upon arrival, I had the cameras hide outside, but pointing into the bar through the big double doors. I very politely asked the manager why my daughter and her friends were kicked out. He repeated the same words over and over we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. I asked him if my daughter and her friends were rude or disrespectful. He said no. I asked what they had done wrong. He didnt reply so I assumed they had done nothing wrong. Then I said the D word.....do we have a case of discrimination here? That got his attention. The manager finally said it.......the customers complained about their looks and their dogs. So I gave him some words to think about.....Let me tell you who you threw out of here. They are a group of kids who have finally found their way and every single day they come to work and take care of hundreds of neglected and abused dogs. They hug them, they play with them, they show them the kindness that they never received prior to coming to us. Six days a week, these kids show up to work and allow the dogs to help them fight their own inner demons. These kids with the tattoos and piercings and their little floppy eared Pit Bull pups, rescue each other day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. These lost little souls that you and your group of judgmental customers just tossed out like garbage....how dare you even use the word American in the name of your bar. Shame on you And I left, grabbed my daughter and her friends and dogs and we did the best John Travolta Saturday Night Fever strut right past their doors and down to Dat Dog hotdogs, who kindly fed my kids, watered the pups renewed my faith in humanity.
