https://youtube/watch?v=Lr-OgG1A74c In response to Dion Jacksons post ill throw up one of the tracks that spawned my love of music. When i was very young, 9 or 10ish my mum owned a night club. On friday nights i used to go with her to West One to work in the cloakroom for the under 18s night before going to wash glasses in dads pub. The night ran from 6 or 7pm until 11 if i remember rightly. During the night i would get a little break from the tiny sweaty cloakroom. Id get a glass of Coke Cola and go and sit in the dj booth watching Neil the resident dj doing his thing. Sometimes id get to play with the lights but most of the time id sit and sift through old suitcases of 7 records. At the time, 1986, one of the main songs that jumped out at me was Love Cant Turn Around There were many others, Hustle To the Music, Wap Bam Boogie, White Lines and many more but this tune always stuck in my mind. Later came Marrs Pump the Volume, Charley by The Prodigy, We Call It Acid by D Mob etc etc but Farley JackMaster Funk is defiantly one of the first that i remember. I listened to it over and over, practiced dance routines in the mirror and quickly let my love of house music turn into a life long passion.
