He wanted to take Ordination when I was in Africa but His Mother sent the Ambassador to the Temple we stayed in South Africa to take him back. Andrew arrived to Ubin Island and learnt that the merit of keeping 8 Precepts one day and night can compare to the merit of a King 16 times; and a Novice Monk who keeps 10 Precepts (by just adding 1 more Precept NOT to TAKE or keep MONEY) is 1600 times. He wanted to gain the high merits and tried his best to keep 10 Precepts for 24 hours, but He failed to do so because his inner and outer merits were not good enough to support him. That is why you can see many of your friend monks, how many of them are able to keep 10 Precepts? They just show off to other people but they dont know the RULES and REGULATIONS of a Bhikkhu who has to keep 227, 250 or 253 Precepts of Tibetan Buddhism, and very very important is Bodhisattva “Mind” Precepts add more 10 and 48. But you know what happened to Andrew...in less than 24 hours after becoming a Novice Monk, He touched Money at night. I had to call for Sangha meeting then DISROBE him. After 3 days, with my Heart of Love, I gave him another chance and Re-Ordinate him and He joined us to Thailand and Lao for few weeks. Later, I sent him to Tanzania Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and took his Robe back before He returned to his country. Without a good teacher, his bad behavior may cause bad view to innocent people and make them look down on image of Sangha - this is a great sin which He cannot BEAR... Mr Lee, to go from Homeless to Home or Beggar to King is hard, but to go from Home Desire to Homelessness Desire-less is a billion times HARDER. That is why it is not easy to achieve holy stage with most modern Monks not strictly keeping Precepts and giving endless excuses for their behavior. The highly-respected Monk, Ajahn Chah said to them: UnShakeable Peace & Understanding Vinaya Ajahn Chah There was once a monk I met who told me he was a real meditator. He asked for permission to stay with me here and inquired about the schedule and standard of monastic discipline. I explained to him that in this monastery we live according to the Vinaya, the Buddhas code of monastic discipline, and if he wanted to come and train with me hed have to renounce his money and private supplies of goods. He told me his practice was non-attachment to all conventions. I told him I didnt know what he was talking about. How about if I stay here, he asked, and keep all my money but dont attach to it. Moneys just a convention. I said sure, no problem. If you can eat salt and not find it salty, then you can use money and not be attached it. He was just speaking gibberish. Actually he was just too lazy to follow the details of the Vinaya. Im telling you, its difficult. When you can eat salt and honestly assure me its not salty, then Ill take you seriously. And if you tell me its not salty then Ill give you a whole sack to eat. Just try it. Will it really not taste salty? Non-attachment to conventions isnt just a matter of clever speech. If youre going to talk like this, you cant stay with me. So he left. I try and try to work too HARD to build back the Trust and Faith for the next generations benefit as many people have lost FAITH in Spiritual Leaders because they see many who are Corrupt. You know, not long, many Temples, Church or Religious shelter will SELL or go for AUCTION like many countries in the WEST. That is why they try one way after another and go on Mission to the EAST to CONVERT. But they are WRONG as our children have high EQ and SQ and they can easily have access to the Bible, Sutra, Vedas and all teachings on the Internet.
